API and MCP

The web app, the REST API and the MCP server share one service layer, so a report looks the same everywhere. Errors follow RFC 7807 (application/problem+json).

Get an API key

  1. Sign in (Google, Microsoft, GitHub or an e-mail link). New accounts get 1 free credit.
  2. In the dashboard, create a key and copy it (lb_live_…, shown once).
  3. Send it as Authorization: Bearer lb_live_… (REST and MCP) or X-API-Key: lb_live_… (REST).

Creating a report costs 1 credit, refunded automatically when the report fails entirely; without credits the API answers 402 and MCP a tool error. Anonymous copies and reading reports are free. GET /api/v1/reports/{id} is public, like the web link. Each key allows 30 requests per minute (429 beyond).

Connect an AI client over MCP

Streamable HTTP endpoint https://www.place-check.com/api/mcp, authenticated with your API key as a Bearer header (401 without it). Tools: search_address, create_report, get_report, get_balance; they act as the key's account.
